Mediha migrated to New Jersey from Pakistan when she was five years old. She had a penchant for telling stories, and drove her family insane with daily detailed rundowns of her day. When she felt that her stories were being ignored, she started writing them down. Her writing style leaned towards the comical, yet it was still based on real life events. At eleven years old, Mediha grew interested in illustration, and comics were just the next step. She started the series “Ninjabi” with encouragement from a friend. The idea was to create a hijabi that was in fact a ninja that fought bad guys, but it turned into stories about a hijabi girl growing up in the West – which was something Mediha could relate to, and had tons of stories for. You can view her award-winning animation, and hear more about herhere. She received her BFA in Computer Art, and is currently pursuing a MFA in Computer Art, as well as trying to establish Ninjabi as a company.
